Just up the road from me at Morwellham Quay - once took a Canadian canoe up there - was very quiet and peacefull, hadn't realized it was such a centre of industry.

Did you see all those lovely flowers they had, and I didn't know how clotted cream was made till now.  Knew about the ice freezing because I come from an Ice cream manufacturing family, very interesting.

haw hard they must off worked take to day into the barn start tractor lift round bale up to  the field to the cage fill with hay 15 minites tops done 200 sheep fed next quad bike 3 loads off  feed stop each pen fill feed boxes .next undo valve water to 250 birds done next job and so on .think haw hard there day was

We may have posh tractors but modern farming pretty isolated - dispersed community's and incomer yuppies.

Last farm I worked on historically had 40 fulltime laborours + seasonal. Now has 4 fulltime 2 wives and some seasonal help if the gaffas feeling rich...

I couldn't find an online copy of Mrs Marshall's Ices , but found a book on making ice cream at home from 1908 , so near enough !!!

It reminds me just how far modern farming has gone from ordinary people.  Quite a bit safer tho' - I thought that the plough horse was going to give someone a good kicking.

That was a very simple ice cream she made.  I asked my cousin for a copy of Granda's original Milan recipe that our ice cream was based on so that I could try it out, and he refused.  Don't know why.  I'd have loved to give it a go.
