Hens and milk
« on: December 19, 2010, 09:06:04 pm »
Due to the adverse cold, snowy weather we have been getting recently, by birds have been on several warm mashes a day, pellets, porriage mix, mixed corn, and veggie scrappes and poultry spice mixed togeter with warm water.

I was wondering if mixing in a little warm milk added would be benificial to them as two or three are still re growing feathers?
is there any reason for not trying this?

thanks

when we still had our milking goat (and before I started needing milk for soap!) we used to give the excess to the chickens and the cats.  the chickens shells were so hard we didn't need oyster shell, it was fab!! they were so healthy on it  :)

I've got a cupboard full of sterilised milk - tastes so much nicer than that UHT rubbish.

My hens get porridge made with boiling water, honey, citricidal and cooled with milk.  They love it.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
