Hello and welcome from the south of Scotland. I can still remember the unbelievable excitement when we moved to our few acres over 1/4 of a century ago. Don't try to take on too much from the beginning, take a whole year to learn about your land and its weather, with just a few animals at first then increase numbers as your knowledge increases. Also start any growing enterprise with a smallish area and build up. We did it all wrong, starting when our neighbour got carried away and ploughed a whole acre for our veggie bed

. It just filled with creeping thistle, couch and nettles

and we've never got rid of them. So learn by our mistakes - we've all made them - rather than having to make your own
