we kept back a couple of geese from xmas last year ( a goose and a gander - or so we thought).  We are now getting 2 eggs, not everyday, but always laid together, so we assumed we have 2 girls instead.  However, whilst we were sitting on the patio the other night having a peaceful beer, the one started treading the other and we were subjected to a prolonged display of goose porn!!  2 weeks on and we are still getting 2 eggs nearly every other day and also daily displays of poultry porn - what is going on??? I want to turn them upside down and sex them but im told you can damage them doing this....

As long as you are careful when you tip them you should be fine.

I think you will find they are both female.  Dominant behaviour, which is what treading is, displayed by one female over the other in the absence of a male, is normal, and does not mean that one female has changed sex, or that a male is laying eggs     On the other hand, if you see the whole whangdoodle, corkscrew or whatever, during treading, then you have one male and one female who lays a lot of eggs    No need to tip them, just observe the action.

Agree with Fleecewife. My females often tread each other too, and they have two ganders in the flock to choose from!
