Hello - I'm new to the forum, and new to small holding. In fact not quite started yet...

But i have the chance to get a Leyland 270 from the mid 70s. Its about £1600 and comes with a topper. Its a good starter, but don't know much more at this stage.

My question is about people's experiences of using this type of tractor for topping, and hopefully bailing.
Its a 75hp, 3.8l.

my land is about 8 acres. I dont care about the speed i need to work, so am not bothered that its not a comparison to today's modern tractors.

1 question I have is whether the weight of a bailer might be too much? I should add that I have some gradient to our land. So the weight would be increased going uphill.

That size tractor should be fine for all the topping and baling that you will do.
