hi from the isle of wight
« on: October 25, 2010, 07:17:21 pm »
just found this site so thought i would tell you a bit about myself.im 56 and come from a long line of farm workers.iv,e been involved with farming and kitchen gardening all my life.in the past i kept hens, ducks, geese and sheep and for many years kitchen gardening.these days i just do my own garden,i gave up with the sheep a couple of years ago,a change of job made it impratical to keep livestock.i live in a farm cottage on the south side of the isle of wight and having spent many years tractor driving and repairing them, not the modern monsters that are about today but 'proper'tractors, gry fergys, majors, david browns etc.done a bit of most rural jobs, forestry, charcoal burning ,stone walling, fencing to name but a few.still keep the grey fergy which is mainly used on the sawbench now and the odd ploughing match.just started having a go at cider making and we are looking forward to trying the results!

Hi, we love the old tractors and equipment as well, just doing up a red fergy 35x. Have an old Holland hay cutter and just got a baler for it . Looking for a hay bob and plough next

Welcome from Brittany where old tractors retain their value and are valued.  (Wish we could afford one).
