teaching opportunity in the wilds!
« on: September 08, 2015, 08:02:02 am »
A very remote school in the West Highlands is searching for a teacher, current school roll of 5.
This place could be someones Nirvana, totally off-grid but big into renewables, self sufficiency etc

the 2nd link is probably more informative but just incase there's anyone fancying a change of scenery

Before I retired I would have loved this job. I have a feeling that my teaching qualifications wouldn't suit them though - I am qualified to teach 16+ and, although primary school teachers can move into Further Education those of us who trained to teach in FE are unable to teach in Primary schools.

However, I have retired and am now disabled so I don't know why I'm even looking up the details.  ;D

The only thing that puts me off this is having to teach my own children!

That would put me off but my children's children are more likely and they're lovely.

My cousin was Headmistress of our little school in Cornwall, most of her pupils were relations including her two sons!!

One of the best things about this particular teaching post is that you are not confined to the class room, if its a nice day you take the children out and do some nature stuff etc.
My nieces and nephews from Scoraig are all older than primary age now, boarding Mon-Fri in Ullapool at the high school or in College in Inverness.

It would be right up my street, I take my classes outdoors so much (even when it isn't a nice da sometimes, parents have got used to sending waterproofs!) but teaching my son one morning a week is plenty.  Did download all the info, though, if mine had been past primary school would have been very interested!
