young hens
« on: July 26, 2021, 03:31:52 pm »
A couple of weeks ago we started introducing two pol Bluebells - slowly as by the book. Now they are mingling they are fine with the older hen but keep jumping the ducks, especially the old, arthritic and half blind in their retirement. Before these we only introduced older rescue hens where that stopped relatively quickly. Any proven method to get youngsters to stop that? I don‘t want to reward them by luring them with food!

Keep the ducks in a separate area from the hens. Old ducks are going to be quite stressed by young hens pushing them around and it's not fair on them. Bluebells can be fairly aggressive hybrids, even to their own kind.
