We are considering freezing a whole pig, has anybody tried this?

I've never tried.  I presume you mean collected from the abattoir without the offal....If so I would guess it would be OK.  I would probably leave the head off too.

Will be interested to hear what others think.    Would have to be a big freezer  :)

but then you would be stuck with a massive piece of meat that once unfrozen could not be refrozen. it could take a fair while to freeze a half pig as well.

Is it for a spit roast?  I think to allow it to defrost properly you would need to use the freezer the same as a large fridge, keeping it at around 4 deg. c and allowing the pig to defrost that way.
