Looking for day-old meat chicks
« on: July 22, 2011, 09:06:50 pm »
We are looking for day-old meat chicks, don't mind what specific (hy)breed, but definitely for the table. We are in the Scottish Borders, but would be prepared to travel to Teeside, Cumbria or up to Fife. Should be hatching within the next 3 weeks though. Looking for 10 birds ot thereabouts.

Poulet Anglais seems to be in Lincolnshire  ???

Anke, there's a poultry sale at Lanark market on 4th August, they normally have pens of hubbards (feathered) and often have day-olds/chicks, it might be worth a look ?
And of course, there's the Rare Breed sale on 18th August too  ;)

Have you tried A A Macintyre at Mauchline I am sure that is where my friends get theirs and they are good healthy birds.

Sorry, things have just not got gone according to plan these last few days, haven't had time to chase this up and in the meantime freezer has been stocked with some nice meaty hares (they were free...), so not sure if we will be able to take any this autumn...
