Hi from Lincolnshire
« on: January 24, 2009, 06:27:47 pm »
I have just found this site - looks to be just what I need!
I am an avid veg grower, have 15 chickens, a couple of cats and a dog. I am only a pretend smallholder as I only have an acre and a half - but it keeps me busy.
I'm hoping to venture in turkeys this year ... could be fun!

Welcome, Carole!

A lot of us on here are 'pretend' smallholders - nobody cares - we are all pals! We learn from each other about loads of different stuff, and sometimes get new ideas too.  I'd never have made so many friends when I moved down here if I hadn't stumbled across this forum.
I have 4 ducks(3f,1m), 10 chickens(9f,1m), 2 cats(1f,1m), and 4 dogs (3f,1m)  anybody know where I can get an arc? ;) ;) ;)

Hello Carole, I love this forum as well, a community of like minded people. As I move through life I am more picky on who I intrigue with, I am not into fashion or keeping up with  people, I want to live life and enjoy nature and the place we live, enjoy growing things and producing the food you eat..what could be better...no prosac for us, enjoy the forum, Sandy

She's called 'Frazzle' (my son's idea! lol) All being well she should live 10/15 years :) they do get heavy but hopefully not 'fat'!!!  :pig:
I too love my life, I would have more animals but hubby keeps a v-strict eye on me, lol, good job really or we'd be overrun.....

A good shed is priority, a mans or a womens  castle!!!! It's great looking for property but smallholdings tend to go quickly, hope you get somewhere nice to settle into. Wen we moved my sun in law fell in love with our huge garage, the last occupant left a big workbench and it is an asset, we just use it as a laundry and store for stuff, with all those animals you must have loads of pet food around!!!! Sandy
