Smallholding swap
« on: March 14, 2012, 02:41:43 pm »
Anyone in an area such as Norfolk/Suffolk or Northumberland......or even Cornwall.......or anywhere interesting....want to do a holiday swap? We are on the Somerset/Devon border with 12 acres + some rented. Livestock....sheep, poultry, dogs... woodland with woodland walk, very pretty, 30mins from sea.

We are very experienced with all types of livestock and can hand and machine milk,  will also look after well behaved polite horses and ponies.

Anyone?

Not sure if you would consider Bala North wales, or how much accomodation you need (our house is pretty small - One double bedroom and sons single room, plus bed settee iminent in lounge)... but a great idea.  We have chickens and 20 sheep (pigs are very easy currently as they are living in the freezer).  We offer our garden for camping through this website, so you can have a nose....  http://campinmygarden.com/campsites/253

Hello!!!

Didn't come and look and have only just found ur answer...whoops! Funnily enough we have just joined the camp in my garden site!
When would you like to do a swap? We are tied by school holidays? We are also starting doing B&B but will have son home from uni who could help, plus we usually have volunteers from Helpx so often lots of people about!!

What do you think?

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

Let go of who you are and become who you are meant to be.

Yeah that is a great idea although not sure it comes under the heading of holiday!  Out of interest does anyone know the link for house/animal sitters which came up on the site somewhere?  I think it was people who are happy to provide this service foc but I may have misread that.

If any of you use these services are they reliable as I have terrible trouble finding someone trustworthy and reliable to look after sheep, goats, ponies, chickens, dogs (pigs thankfully going in freezer next week)

Very late reply I know but I only joined this site a few days ago.

Wanted to say what a brilliant idea this is though!

great idea to swap.
Can I propose that we create a holiday home in France ! If TAS members would each like to send me a £100 I can do up one of our empty barns and then shuttle TAS visitors between it and the airport in my new Rolls Royce.
Seriousley though - it is a god idea.

The idea has serious merit, anyone interested in a week in banff up in
aberdeenshire? Less than a mile from one of scotlands best sandy beaches. We have goats , sheep, pigs and chickens but all are well behaved as long as they get to watch jeremy kyle once a day !!!
