IME the pig prices at Lanark have always been low - great opportunities for buyers though I suppose  ???

That's how they usually run the bidding - price per animal - still outrageously low for the seller though, esp when they take the commission out of it too.

Go to any market and coloured pigs aren't worth a light. The commercial rearers and butchers simply don't want them.

There were 3 lovely Tamworth gilts and a nice Berkshire sow, I thought.
The poor wee Kunekunes looked like they'd been taken from their mammy that morning  :'( Much smaller than mine are at that age and just laying in a pile shivering  :( I had to walk away before they started selling them, would have been too tempted to take them home with me  :innocent:

It's the first time I've looked at the pigs there for months, and it reminded me why I don't  :'(

The tammies made about £60 each. The kunnies looked to be  pure with no other breed in the mix.The pigs with the round bums were the product of a 4 way mix and the two pigs that made £108 and £102 were pietrain crosses not GOS as the vendor stated and were 14 months old.
