i want to set up a hardfeather poultry show; advice needed!
« on: January 09, 2010, 06:11:56 pm »
due to a serious lack of classes for hardfeather fowl in most of the poultry/agri shows in ireland i plan to set up my own show as i have struggled to find places to show my o-shamos i have several judges in mind with years of experience with judging and sufficient experience with hardfeather game.

my main aim is quite a selfish one, i want to not only be able to show my own fantastic rooster but i would also like to see other peoples shamos and compare types/bloodlines etc,
i want to bring all the hardfeather enthusiasts together!

im going to have classes for cornish game, modern game and old english game to boost numbers as well as classes for o-shamo,ko-shamo,azeels,bantam azeels and if i can find anyone with malays i will have a class for them as well!

i know i need third party + public liability insurance and i also plan to hold a bring and buy sale to boost numbers
i had considered holding a lurcher and terrier day but i dont think it would mix well with the poultry show! ;)
ive an indoor venue lined up (a large equestrian centre)
and i also need to know where i can rent show cages

i think i need all the help i can get!

You may also need to contact your Agricultural authorities as sanction may be needed to hold a show at all. Then put ads. in poultry magazines and papers, local poultry suppliers etc. and, of course contact your own club secretary. Good luck, I hope it all goes well. Don't expect a tremendous turnout for the first show, these things take time to get going!!
