Hello,
We would like to sell some of our raw jacob fleeces to a local spinning group (the rest of our flock's wool goes to the wool marketing board) .
However, government legislation says that Raw sheep's wool is a category 3 Animal by product. It says that you can sell treated wool or hair without restrictions but what about untreated wool?
I rang our local Animal and Plant Health office and they think that you cannot sell raw fleece unless it is to a registered wool treatment plant.
https://www.gov.uk/animal-by-products-handling-and-treating-wool-and-hairHow do other small holders sell their raw fleeces? Is it just under the radar?
Thanks
