Caught!!!
« on: September 01, 2011, 08:52:55 am »
:-[ :-[ :-[ Early this morning Hubby was away taking kids to school, so I nipped out to the hen house. Now I hadn't felt very well last night so had gone to bed still with make up on, huge (but cosy) nightshirt, jammie bottoms and socks in an array of colours. This morning I must have been a sight with sticky up hair, panda eyes, specs and walking boots with the aforementioned clothing. There I was head in the nest box checking to see if yesterdays house clean and liberal dusting with diatom powder had done the job with the evil red mite when I heard a loud 'Good Morning'. Eeeeeek  :o

Was I ever so glad, I think  ::) to see Hubby had come back for forgotten gym kit. He looked at me standing there, shook his head and mumbled something about having been married for 2 years and how things change  ;D

Lovely man that he is made me a quick cuppa, saying I obviously still wasn't feeling myself.

THats my regular look, I often get caught by guests when I have that just out of bed look, I have just this min made myself a cuppa and saw the teenagers across the road turn around my way when  I went near the window to fill the kettle....I think I resemble a mix of Ken Dodd without the sticky out teeth, him from Cure and les Dawson as I have my big dressing gown on. Steve went out to feed the DUcks one morning very early as they were noisy, in my pink dressing gown, a wooly hat and wellies and returning into the house bumped into an early rising guest from Austrailia!! wonder what he thought!!

I have been caught like that too when I lived up North in the sticks, so, down here in civilisation, I now have a rule that even before I let the dogs out, I have my shower and get dressed - not smart for going out but at least clean and hair brushed, but I rarely wear make up anyway so don't bother with that.  Then I let the dogs all go screaming out to waken the ducks and chickens.  Cat has his breakfast then toddles off to find bunnies in the field, then it's time for the morning cuppa and TAS! ;D  I live by routine, sad isn't it?  :'(
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

I always have my worst kit on when I'm at home any time during the day - and am not expecting anyone round  - my regular excuse for delivery and Scottish power men "just been cleaning out the hen house"  ::) ;D  :&>

During the summer I always let the dogs out, feed and let out the chickens, feed the cats. all in my dressing gown. We are well of the road so no big deal.  ;D

I was sick of getting caught in my PJ's so now I get PJ's that look like leisure suits and have a zip up fleecy that I wear instead of a dressing gown. I can safely go and feed the animals in them and not get caught. I sometimes do forget to take the makeup off but I now have a habit of glancing in the mirror before going out of the door and under the mirror is some facial wipes so risk minimised there too.

I'll learn from this - I thought it was the chappy I'd called about fencing shouting 'Good Morning', I was so glad when it wasn't. It's also so nice to hear I'm not he only one sloping around in my PJ's of a morning, and your tales and descriptions made me laugh.  ;D ;D

I regularly get up, let cats out, put kettle on and go open up/feed the chooks before showering and getting dressed so no you're not alone in the pjs tho I never wear makeup anyway so at least know that isn't running.. ::)  Trouble is the last couple of days I've got midgey bites where normal clothes wouldn't let them get to :o ::)

As for the rest of the day, I'm mostly at home and alone most days in a variety of jogging trousers and fleeces or polo shirts or both - my new neighbours are very smart and the first day we met they invited me in for a coffee after I'd just finished an impromptu patch of a stone wall, a bit of stray ragwort pulling and the in-field round of 11 ponies who are all in moult ::)  I guess I won't be trying to impress them with my attire now anyway ::)

My hubby is the one out in his dressing gown and slippers openning the kennel door. Trouble is I have to pull his dressing gown down at the back before he goes out cause even though he is 56 he still cant put it on so it covers everything!

I, too have this problem, more so when it gets light very early and I don't necessarily get up at 4.am unless I'm lambing, but feel guilty about not letting the geese out as they hate being shut in when it's light.  Consequently, as soon as I wake properly I rush out, usually managing to swap jim jam bottoms for a pair of jeans, and throw a coat/fleece over my top bit.  It's my hair that's the problem.  I have very fine dry hair that needs taming in the morning or it really does look like the aforementioned Doddy.  Not a good look at all!  Fortunately, I have no near neighbours, and very few early morning callers, but you never know!
We keep Ryelands, Southdowns, Oxford Downs, Herdwicks, Soay, Lleyn, an Exmoor pony and Shetland geese.  Find us on Twitter as @RareBreedsScot
