Apparently, insect numbers everywhere have plummeted, so we can expect insect-eating bird numbers to drop accordingly, or at least for them to congregate near water and damp places. Hopefully they can adapt in time to survive with a slightly different diet.
Still no swallows here, although Mr F did spot some in Dumfries and Galloway the other day, so our fingers are crossed.
The usual female Osprey Aila that came to the Loch Arkaig nest has not returned this year sadly and the male Louis has hooked up with another female on a nest without a camera. So Ospreys still breeding, just not the female we know and love
