Just a reminder to check your hives to make sure they are not blocked with snow or other stuff, some bees are trying to clean due to the light levels

hi to all out there in bee land I can say that today 15/02/2012 I had bees flying (hope they don't go to far and get cold) must be a cleaning flight so keep the bed linen off the washing lines

Ours were flying today and at the weekend. There were loads of them having a drink in the puddles by the field gate  :)

It might be worth putting a sugar feed on the hives too. Use sugar syrup not fondant as it is easier for them to work. And make sure you do it on a warmer day, working quickly but gently so that the hive isn't open too long.

That's the beauty of having three inch deep crown board feeders on each hive .
Just lift the top cover and fill the feeder with a watering can or from a hose of pumped from a barrel luke warm syrup & thymol
