I'm going Friday and working for RHET on Saturday. It woul be nice to meet any TASers going along.
-
I'm going on the Friday and looking forward to it, fingers crossed for sunshine.
-
We'll be there on the friday, which is poultry day if i remember rightly
-
I'm going all week!!
Thursday with the school(cadging a lift only)! Then fri, sat and sun with hubby and youngest child!
I love it!!
I'll need to find my badge!
-
I could be going Friday if I can get someone to look in on Freckles around Lunchtime - a friend is showing her abandoned black Shetland Lamb (Lawrence ::) ::) ) They are on about 2pm I think but my neighbour and I would aim to get there around 10 am
-
I hope to be going on the Fri with my daughter, going to see the M&Ms and everything else too
-
I'm going every day! cant wait. working in the honey tent either the saturday or sunday but rest of the time is mine all mine!
i'd love ot show either some of the lambs or hens but never done it before and no idea how to. should i? could i?
-
forgot to mention - i have no badge, but would love one please......
-
I really want to go, but i am in Germany, i havn't been now for 5years :(
-
We'll be there every day, with our sheep in the Hebridean lines. Please drop by to visit. Judging is Fri am for Hebs - we are not there to win so don't feel sorry for us when we are at the bottom of the line - we just love to promote the breed. I might have my spinning wheel or drop spindle though not on Fri. Our name is Johnston, written above the sheep. Hope to see lots of you there.
-
I'll be there from the Tuesday through to the bitter end on Sunday. Poultry are only in on Saturday/Sunday. Just a display on in the tent Thurs/Fri.
Our Judging is on Friday as well, start at 8:30am. But we also have our milking competition on the Thursday, so we will be milking in the judging ring (if weather ok) at 7am and 6:30pm.
Feel free to stop in and see the goats- my surname is Fairley, we have goats entered under Fairley, Baisden and Campbell! I think we're taking 14 with us....

Bumping this thread up a bit!
Getting close to the show now- quite excited this year. Disappointingly, we haven't recieved any of our exhibitor packs, so at the moment we have no passes, numbers etc >:( However, the show is being very good, and making up replacements for us. The exhibitors caravan park this year, is on a first come first served basis, so I will try and be through on tuesday morning for the gates opening at 8am to get a good spot!
If quite a few TASer's are going to the show, does anyone want to set a meeting place for any particular day?
Beth

A few folk going on Friday. It would be great to meet up since I haven't managed to any of the meets so far.
-
We were going on the Friday but now due to circumstances can't go at all - not happy! >:(
-
I am hoping to go on the Friday so will be in to see your goats Beth, will also visit the sheep. We dont have any horses there this year so it will be nice to just wander round looking at everything else.
-
I will be going on the Friday straight off a nightshift, should be plenty their to keep me bright and breezy though.
Would love to meet anyone for a blether.

How about Friday, 2pm at the clock?
-
Ok, if I can get there on Friday I'll be at the Clock at 2pm too. Where's the Clock?
-
I was about to ask the same question Annie. Can't remember seeing it.
-
me too! me too! where is the clock??
-
The clock, (if I am thinking of the same thing as Rosemary), is beside the main ring on the opposite side to the grandstand. There's a biggish grassy area for watching what is happening in the main ring.
I might be able to pop up at 2pm, it depends on how our judging goes.

I am trying to convince OH that I could have a "day off", but he is barking about the 22 quid entrance fee.... too much... However kids are free, and as its almost holiday time I could just take them out of school...
so maybe I'll make it for the goats and hopefully shetland sheep on Friday!
-
Hi Mandy  didn't know you were on here :) Drop in and see us on Friday in the Heb lines - judging is at 9 and goes on for a couple of hours but otherwise we will be there. With chairs - sure you'll need one after your night shift.
Hi All - will try to be at the mythical clock for 2 - how will I recognise you? If not, please drop by the Heb lines - we are nearly always there, talking talking talking ::)
Juliet

If I remember I'll wear my TAS badge. If you have any left Rosemary, might be worth bringing them with you?
-
All gone, I'm afraid. Anyway, they're so small, I have to go up close to get a good look. Probably get a slap on the chops from someone!!
-
I'm planning to go on Saturday so hopefully will say hello to a few of you that have identified yourselves!
-
If all goes to plan I will be coming down on Friday very early to see the Hebrideans and will look out for you Fleecewife. 8)
-
and me hopefully, have got someone to take my invalid dog out for a pee
-
May not make it. Don't have anyone to look after pigs yet and as the weather is so hot I would hate their wallow to dry up or them to upend their water, also 4pm is feed time, but if I get cover I will be there.
-
I will be up on Friday, but shetlands are judged at 2pm, so will definitely be at that. Sorry. Anke
-
Well I didn't make it , hope you all had a brilliant day. I have spent the day poo-picking and digging up ragwort ( so I hope you all feel sorry for me) :'(
-
Well I was beside the clock at 2pm. Met Rosemary (Dan was lying on the grass a bit away but wasn't able to go and speak to him), Carol and Graham. Beth and Ally were at the Goat tent/ring being judged. It was very warm, very busy, I had an ice cream in the morning, a venison burger and a Pepsi at lunch time, saw chickens, cattle, horses (those Clydesdale are superb ::)), sheep, goats, and a beeeeaatiful horse drawn funeral carriage - all polished black and gold, and a photo of it with a pair of shiny coated black horse - way to go! Loads of machines of all kinds, and a superb gundog demonstration. Too tired now but will upload a wee video to photo bucket and post the link on here tomorrow

well i was there for just a wee while yesterday but there ALL DAY today in the bee keeping tent helping out. i am sooooo exhausted but what a really enjoyalbe day - so many people are interested in bees, it was a joy to share my (limited) knowledge with them and hopefully a few more people are off to consider taking up bee keeping as a result....... (no bee icon :(

We spent our first hour and a half in the beekeeping tent(I was with my friend, Enid's, husband, he has a beard and had a grey rucsac. - where were you - maybe I spoke to you? We were asking a lot of questions because we both have had our first lessons - Eoin has done the Fife BKA course, I just had one lesson on Wednesday from friends at Dunblane, who are breeding queen bees.
-
I have to say the Beekeeping attraction was one of my favourite things and the folks were really friendly and helpful. My and the hubby will be looking into beginners courses with the contacts we were given for Aberdeenshire. :)
-
bees are amazing - try sticking 60,000 people in a space and telling them to organise themselves - food, water, hierarchy, looking after babies, and see what happens!
i was at the demonstration hive at the back for ages, then the honey extraction area and then helping the children make beeswax candles. i spoke to so many people that i dont know if i spoke to you or not Annie - sorry.
funnily enough lots of people make a beeline (oops!) for the beekeeping tent they were telling me. one wee boy said it eas his favourite thing every year and he begs his mum and dad to bring him there first!
Cairnhill, the course is really worthwhile and builds your knowledge and confidence so when you get your own bees you feel so much more confident - much better than going it along. lots of support and help from the BKA too. lots of nice folk up aberdeen way.
Annie, who are your friends in Dunblane - may know them?
-
Hi All Sorry I didn't get to the clock at 2 to meet you all - stuck with my sheep. I did meet Anna and Mandy which was lovely. Then when I did escape I got stuck in the most horrible people-jam at a livestock crossing where no-one could move in any direction at all for at least 10 mins after the crossing was re-opened and it was beginning to get quite claustrophobic :'( So since then I have stayed with the sheep, talking to people and today and tomorrow spinning. I love explaining to children just what I'm doing - mostly the boys are fascinated by the wheel itself and the girls are more interested in the process. Lots of dads are interested too - well obviously people who stop to watch are all interested. I even heard one man say to his wife as they walked away - 'so that will be a spinning wheel for your birthday then?' and she replied 'oh yes please', so there's at least one convert :) One more day to go - I'm desperate to be able to spend Monday in my polytunnel all day where the only crowds are the plants.
-
Annie, who are your friends in Dunblane - may know them?
My daughter and son-in-law know Rob McGowan who is a fellow member of St Saviours Chruch in B of A. He is a beekeeper and introduced me to an older friend of his who also lives in Dunblane - I think his name was Marcus or Magnus. We spent the whole of Wednesday afternoon at their beehives.
-
We had a good day yesterday, apart from spending a small fortune .... damn kids :D

Rosemary, Carol, Graham and I were sitting on the wooden bench behind the clock facing the main ring. Sorry we missed you, I did have my TAS badge on but it isn't very big. Perhaps we need something more obvious for future meets in wide open spaces - like T-shirts maybe?

I completely forgot about the 2pm meet til nearer 3 Annie :-[

Magnus Pettersen. Wonderful man, hugely knowledgeable about bees and very encouraging and helpful to beginners. As are most in Dunblane and Stirling Beekeepers.
-
I didn't even get as far as the clock all day, spent all morning at the goats and then afternoon at the shetland sheep end of things. Never managed the beekeeping tent or any of the more spending orientated areas, and as the kids went to school (unlike half of Edinburgh kids!) I had a really great day (and not too expensive either!)
Although I have to say, far TOOOOO many people there....
-
I was heading for the gundog demo by that time, having seen the horse parade all trot back to their beautiful stables, and had a quick look round the sheep for my friend, Flick, and her wee fella Lawrence (Larry the lamb to you ;) ), then a quick chat with Beth, Ally and Fiona, before racing up the hill and round the corner to the lake to catch the Labradors just coming into the ring. Great stuff - think I'll change my breed! 10 Labs would be easier to train than my two Brittany boys. ;) ;D ;D
-
I didn't make it up to the meet and greet point either. Our kid judging is technically supposed to start at 2:15pm, but sometimes they just tack it onto the end of the adult judging. However, on Friday we broke for lunch at 12:30 and they decided to start judging again at 2pm, so I couldn't make it.
Did have a good show, saw Annie and Anke both on Friday. Found time to watch the falconry display, the Quack Commandos, and the final judging of the Heavy horse turnouts. Actually didn't spend a lot of money as it happened- never found time to go shopping! Oh except we did order a new sign for our house that cost £135, with two goats on it, but the other half paid for that, so it still feels like I didn't spend a lot of money. We did buy some "Lantana" wine as we have a goat called Lantana. I wanted to go and get another trough from Paxtons, and I never got as far as their stand.
