We delivered our first bullock to Dunblane abattoir this morning at 9am. He loaded easily following a bucket, down the road and trotted into the lairage. There was only one other cattle beast in; we went for a cup of tea at the M&S up the road then went back 30 minutes later and picked up the horns.
The guys at Dunblane are really nice. I haven't been for years - Dan usually goes by himself.
Picked up the poles for the obstacles in the pig agility classes for the Festival, on the way home.
Loaded George, our 2012 bullock, and brough him home, so all seven cattle are at home now. Much bellowing going on.
Knackered now, so off for lunch. Looking forward to getting our Shetland beef back in a few weeks.

I'm going to see if any of the crook and stick makers at the Festival want to buy them ;D

I love the sound of pig agility !! can you explain more? this might be a new venture for me to introduce to our local ag show

Our rams horns are now enjoying a new incarnation as shofars (the rams horn trumpet used in Jewish ceremonies!) :-))) so Curly the ram lives on :-)

Great idea about the cattle horns, it looked like he had a nice pair.
Re Saturday - hope the festival goes well and everything goes according to plan - would you consider bringing it further north any-time?

We'd like to but it depends on getting a suitable venue.

if iam thinking of the same guy he did stuff for me a while back . he was steve mitchell puddledub buffalos butcher manager at the time.was pigs and lambs. stuff was great but dunblane stopped delivering out as far as kennoway . they obviously do again now :thumbsup: [size=78%] [/size]

Why? Beef liver is great, and they do have quite a good sized heart... If not you humans would have liked it, I am sure cats and dogs would have devoured it...

I don't THINK it's the same bloke - Stuart comes from a long line of butchers and has a couple of shops in St Andrew's, one in Newport and has just bought one in Ladybank. His cutting plant used to be right next to St Andrew's Abattoir. He's a great guy and keen to support rare breeds so I love him :love:

might not be i just new that stuart (didnt no his second name) left puddledub to open a shop in st andrews . time shoots by so was probably 4 or 5 year back could be more . i used to do stock work for puddledub and they would butcher my stuff till he took on a polish guy full time, wasnt that bothered as buffalos were a bit scary :o and dunblane had stopped delivering out there . i couldnt get on with the then manager of standrews .
