Its rained virtually non stop since Thursday, and its torrential. An exact replica of last year, when it ruined our local two day agricultural show. Such a shame as they moved to a new farm this year, and the mud is as bad again. We took the ponies yesterday to the show, and the mud was horrendous, having to be towed on and off the field. Today, the show was cancelled, as its rained hard non stop again.
Tractors had to tow horse boxes and trailers onto the field used to park boxes, and then we had to walk our ponies over to the main field for the show - and we somehow got our pony with hairy feathers on her legs over this mud without her getting dirty, yet my long boots were caked with thick mud. It hurt me to see all the bales of straw that went down to make the field passable for the public to walk round - there was so(http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/dollylane/MOLLYATROMILEYSHOW18THJULY2009007.jpg) much straw, and within minutes it was a boggy mess again

same here! Although it stopped some time yesterday, even my garden is an utter mess! Thanks to the :&> :&> :&> :&> :&> :&> :&> :&> :&> :&> :&> :&>!!! One of my before so lovely planting containers has been flooded to the top because of a blocked plug hole and I'm struggling to rescue my drowning turnips >:(

Its sooo unfair I wish this rain would stop, you can tell its summer time and show time! Lets hope it dries up soon to get some hay done.
-
and they told us there was to be a heatwave this summer, so all the poor unsuspecting holidaymakers who decided to stay in this country this year are washed out, I really feel sorry for them :-[, lets hope it picks up when the kids are off.
-
Another good year for
slugs
I hunt them for the Ducks and am now getting very agressive with them
-
I just let my ducks and chickens onto the garden and let them hunt them for themselves. ::)
Seems to have been a slightly better weekend than forecast. Dundee yesterday was just a light drizzle most of the day, but at Doune it chucked it most of the day, and carried on raining at night so the BBQ I went to was eaten inside! Today at Heriot it was warm and sunny one minute, black and chucking it the next.

Well at 6am this morning the sun was splitting the trees here in Fife. However, not for long and now it is back to the heavy rain and high winds!!! What a great summer we have enjoyed - not.
-
Now I'm wet, cold shower this morning and cold shower this evening :gloomy:my OH can take the dogs out, I'll just stay here and do the things en't done yet..........................read the paper, catch up on E Mails and watch TV ;)
-
I did try to go to Agility - honest! But some of the motorway was flooded and I reckoned it really wasn't safe for me and Freckles to go running around wet grass. I wonder if Beth and Alex went?

We went, an mercifully the rain (mostly) held off for the duration of the class.
However it's back to tipping it down now.
It's the second horrendous summer in a row, oh for a bit of sunshine.
I just hope we get a decent run into autumn.
-
Well we are now enjoying the most horrendous thunder and lightning storm, not good for all the animals out side.
-
The joys iof old buildings - we now have water pissing in everywhere!!!!!!!!!!
-
We had that in our porch a few weeks ago, the day I came to collect the Ducks, I was wet watching them outside etc then came in, had a shower and someone told us about the water, the porch internal gutter was blocked and it flooded the flat roof so came down the walle porch, all is oK now. Hope you sort yours out, this morning our hot water went off so called out the plumber who was across the road and sorted it very quickly, not a good thing cold running water in a B&B

Sandy, meant to say today - can you give me that website where you found the decorators?
-
http://www.ratedpeople.com/ I've been told it's one of the better sites for getting tradespeople in, we are getting three different quotes this week so we shall see, I was told they cannot fiddle feedback so thats OK, a bit like E Bay, the site also gives you tips......we need tradespeople all the time, after you left I got the plumber in again, a quick repair job as something on the hot water switch had gone!!!!!
-
Well after the worst rain fall I have seen for a very long time the building has now stopped leaking. There was water pouring through the lights in the bar(downstairs) and one of the guest bedrooms which is directly above the bar got a drenching too. As did the upstairs landing and a few other places. We had repairs done to the roof a while back and we are sure that it was just so heavy the drain could not cope so the water overflowed. The resident in the room thought it was funny but all has been mopped up again so that's it till the next time!

Thanks for that Sandy - first of three tradesmen has been round this morning and will quote this afternoon. Can't believe how fast he contacted me and came round this morning. Very nice and well spoken young man.

We are on our 2nd!!
-
2nd one coming Friday 6pm, but already have an excellent quote from the 1st one - that is a really good website. I had a look at the ratings this morning.
As for the rain - I was going out to do some training with Allez when it came down yet again. Trouble is now it's wet and slippy and I'm reluctant to go now. Might just do some in the garden instead. I hate this yo-yo weather - it certainly wasn't anything like as bad last year - I remember quite clearly because it was my first year down here and I was able to eat outside a lot so we must have had many dry sunny days.

Things can only get better - :gloomy: 8) :) ;D
