Definately going to try it, you can do it with florence fennel and cabbages as well ( if you cut a cabbage off the stalk rather than pull it and then cut a cross in the top of the stalk you can get four small cabbage heads) My problem with some veg is my short growing season so regrowing is limited unless they are in the poly. I do a lot of cut and come again but regrowing takes a little longer.

That is fantastic  I'm going to try that tomorrow at work I'm sure the Chef will have some celery I can cut the bottom off. Especially as my celery seeds are doing so badly :(

Thanks... I am definitely going to give this a go

hope it works now, my one looks very promising TBH, going to plant it out tomorrow. does anyone know if rabbits like celery or not?

Get the slingshot ready phil, rabbits love celery, especially the new leafy shoots.
Will also try this , saves buying seeds. Thanks for the tip.

I saw that site mentioned elsewhere and last thursady chopped off the bottom of a hand of celery and started it off in a ramakin dish with water .
the useful cellery was slipped into a food bag and got thw egg cups of water in it then th celery was stood up in the winebottle ara of the fridge. it's stil edible and tasety today . . new bag new water.
Back to the stump . It was planted out on Sunday evening under a " Pop bottle coche " in one of my raised beds .it had four mini roots on it and several new ones just starting to emerge . i planted it 1/4 inch above the old line of cutting off so that the tree is standing well proud above the 1/4 inch of covering soil .
I aim to do this every week for the next 12 weeks or so to see if I can get a hand of celery every 7 to 10 days The root of the regrown celery will also get the recycle treatment for apparently you can re grow several times .
I hope to over winter some in the office in several plastic buckets as it is usually a six or seven degrees o C above freezing . The cold clime Americans and Canadians often store celery in their cellars in this manner .

i was talking to an old friend about this and they are going to try it out. but the tip they gave me is to do the same with spring onions and leeks. pop them roots in some water for 2-3 days and plant out. leek and all 5 spring onions are doing very nicely and regrowing as i was told they will!
