I own several of these books, each of which is the best book on the subject. This one is no exception. Each book explains and describes the ins and outs of each task, covering how and why, what tools could be used, manual handling, legislations and wildlife to name a few. These books also use clear diagrams to demonstrate every aspect of the task. They were of great use to my college assignments and I couldn't recommend them more.

I purchased a field in 2012 for my horses but had no idea how to maintain a hedge other than keep cutting it. Problem is that the hedge hadn't been maintained for many years and was very sparse in places, certainly didn't offer any security at all. This book educated me well in all aspects of hedge management. In the end I decided to pay a professional to lay the roadside hedge but I will in future be laying the internal hedges myself. I find myself constantly referring back to it.

I found this book to be clear and informative, no less thanks to the multitude of illustrations. After reading this book I feel confident enough to go plant a hedge and perhaps even lay it when the time comes.

this is simply the best book it covers everything from the history of hedging to the present day. Hedge laying is a dying trade & to find a book which covers all the technique is a real bonus.

Excellent book on all aspects of hedging, would thoroughly recommend this book. I bought it for my son who has started hedging on our farm, proved a great reference.

Ideal for young Farmers, Conservationists, Students as it shows how to make a good that will last for long, long time and with the practise of doing this you also provide a habitat for small birds.

Good and informative book on laying hedges which is a skill in itself, but it had no information on coppicing of hedges.
