Feed prices

Are feed prices creeping up?

Layers pellets (20kg) cost £8.10 this week.  Never known them above £8.  Not long ago were not much above £7

Everything is going up… feed, fertiliser, bedding, you name it we’ve seen price rises. Luckily we bought a new cattle shed before the steel price rose over 40%!!

Yes - we use Heygates and have been watching changes for a few months now - we currently pay £8.25 for layers.
If you cant beat 'em then at least bugger 'em about a bit.

I just checked our latest receipts - over £10 for a 25kg bag, so definitely an increase (I hadn't noticed at the time, because it was in with a load of other stuff).

Inflation is coming, generally. I was in a builder's merchant the other day and they had massive gaps in their stock. Shortages = price rises sooner or later.

BTW, I started this thread ages ago to keep track of feed prices. No discussion - just a record of prices, and it's worked well. Do log yours on there too please. It's really interesting to see how prices change over time and also for different places.

£8.75 for 20 kg layers here, and that's the cheap stuff. Better quality feed is around £10  >:(

Thanks Womble.  I had seen that thread in the past but had forgotten about it.  Will add my data.
