Advice on sick hen needed
« on: April 18, 2010, 11:31:14 pm »
I think that my hen may have bacillary white diarrhoea - from reading about her symptoms - she is unwell, huddled cold looking and has copious white soft poo which is sticking to her vent, it looks like it. As it is sunday today i can't do very much. My husband thinks that we should cull her to stop it spreading, she is 3 years old and not a special hen. I am thinking that it would be good to try and help her get better, I can isolate her and give her cider vinegar in her water and go and get some medication tomorrow. Does anyone have experience of this and have any other thoughts on what we should do?

I would give her a chance if you can.  If it is infectious she will already have passed it on so culling won't make any difference.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
