Hi all, Jelly Pigs are what my butcher refers to as the normal pink commercial breeds, when i saw them at teh abbatoir it was the only way that i could describe the way they moved. dont get me wrong they all looked healthy and happy but they just di not seem to have a lot of muscle structure, compared to ours whihc had run around for their whole lives. does that sort of make sense??  ???

Hi all, not that my girls are for slaughter but they have 2 tags already from the breeder. Would I have to tag again if they did go? Also how do you learn how to tag? I'm hoping to breed my girls and no idea where to get stuff from nor how to tag piglets.

The girls would need your herdmark to identify them if they did go to slaughter.  Usually breeding tags are plastic ones, and you would use a metal one for the abattoir.

I get my tags from Mole Valley Farmers in this area (Devon).  Depending on what type of tags you have you buy an applicator with the first lot.  Mine came with directions of how to use.

The BPA send out lots of info about tagging and identification.
