Further more my 10 store lambs have really loved this mineral block and in two months demolished it, so as this was my first batch of lambs before I get my small flock, and before i actually taste their meat I wondered if anyone knows?

cheers

We use it but not to sweeten the meat, more for the mineral and energy content for the health of the sheep.  If you want to find out, give half your flock access to the licks and the other half not then compare the meat from each group.

in some areas mineral supplements are necessary to keep sheep healthy many mineral suppliers now add molasses to encourage uptake. I don't think its necessary and my own view is that too much molasses actually can cause scour in hoggs and lambs. I prefer to use powdered minerals. the lambs that need it will take it those that don't wont

I use a northumbrian mix which has a range of elements in designed for this area I'll go check the label to check what is in it exactly but basically selenium cobalt manganese zinc a small amount of copper and a few other minute quantities of mineral. we start to feed it when we notice lambs licking soil or the shed walls
