I bought a JD2040 with loader and after playing with it , I cannot get the bucket out of “float” mode - so can’t get it to curl up or down , it is just hanging loose! Any thought s please?

Contact the person from whom you bought it, or the loader manufacturers or google it.

have you had a look at the cables to the valve block or does it run off  the tractor spools valves

Sometimes knocking the box where all the pipes and cables go works for me. Sticky valve or cable.

Have you messed with anything or just stopped working? Is the bucket 'pushing' down or just dropped and hanging?
