Am off to search for daylight lamps.... finding it difficult to read or do any stitching with my usual table lamp...

Anyone recommending a particular make/model?

I got mine from RNIB site. I figured that if they are selling stuff suitable for partially sighted people they must be good ones. www.rnib.org.uk

Those are whoppingly expensive though MGM, the floor standing ones. I bought one from Amazon for under £40. Sorry, I don't have a link but it's very similar to the one 'Somewhere by the river' recommends below.

Just had a look and they've gone up by a colossal amount. Mine was about £26 a few years ago but a lot plainer.

I think I will ask OH for one of these lights for Christmas too! Most of my spinning these days seems to be in the "quiet" time between seeing to the sheep and chooks at sundown and starting to think about dinner. We have wall lights rather than overhead ones and though they give a restful light, it's not great for working with.

I also find if I'm spinning my Heb or dark Shetland fleece, I need a light-coloured lapcloth or pinny and for my white and grey Shetlands I need a dark one - just so I can see the contrast.

Went to Ikea and bought one of their 1000lumen light bulbs, which fits one of our (also Ikea) lamps - and it does make a difference. Much cheaper than buying a whole new lamp, but it needs a suitable lamp also from Ikea... the lightbulbs are these
