price of lleyn ewe lambs?
« on: June 25, 2010, 06:08:45 pm »
How much should I reasonably expect to pay for LLeyn ewe lambs?
I have found a local supplier but I don't want to be ripped off - also don't fancy trying my luck at the local auction - I know that I could be fleeced there! excuse the pun. The lambs that I've been offered are  pedigree registered and mv and scrapie monitored.

cheers

I have lleyns and with the way prices are going this year I would expect to charge around £100 for well grown ewe lambs which could be put to the ram this year.

Last year I upped my numbers substantially and paid varying rates but my theory was that if they were good sound stock and I accepted the price then fair enough.

Look on the lleyn website for the information about the sales last year - the prices they show are always the highest paid but that will give you a good guide.

I breed Lleyns. All by a wellbred tup and would expect at least £100 each for a last years ewe lamb.

Black nose preferable. No brown in the back legs. Nice well set almost see through ears. Good balance and sound on her legs.

Deep fleece, but probably shawn by now.

:o For that sort of money I'd expect a very well put together ewe lamb. A lamb that has had extra feed in the way of lamb pellets and run with ewes that have had plenty of good grazing,so well up to weight.

I have ewes and ewe lambs here for sale and the choice of 600+

Near Hay-on Wye.Herefordshire/Radnorshire (Powys) border.

From a registered flock.
