black faced sales
« on: July 12, 2010, 07:13:20 pm »
i was looking through some of the sale reports of black faced tups at lanark and almot fell of my chair when i seen some of the prices. now from what little experiance i have had with sheep i know some can comand a fair price but there was one tup that went for 40,000

now this might be a silly question but what makes that tup worth that and another not and how can a farmer justfy that outlay wont make the meat of the lambs that tup produces with any more ???

thanks
Alan

Thats nothing last year a texel made about 212,000 and regularlly make over 100,000.
these rams will be used mainly for ai purposes and usually bought by a group of breeders to use on there own flocks and to sell semen for other pedigree breeders.
