Cockerel splash Orpington x cream legbar
« on: November 03, 2016, 06:19:47 pm »
I took 7 chicks at day old in June all supposedly crested cream legbar hatched from blue eggs.  2 chicks were black tho, and not autosexing.  Was told I could take back if boys and that rogue dad must be an escaped splash Orpington that was caught up fast but just not fast enough!

One is a lovely lavender and clearly a hen but the other is clearly not,, tail feathers are coming in droopy curves not upward wedge shape and he's bigger by far.  Fine friendly bird so far, backs off not aggressive to me but I don't breed now just buy day olds, and am vegetarian..

I just wondered if anyone has any use for him?  Breeder would just cull but it seems a waste if someone had a short term home and a pot or a longer term use, might produce interesting colour egg layers?

Hatched during highland show week late June.
