When to go outside
« on: May 29, 2010, 05:17:54 pm »
I have bought some 5 week old ewe lambs. They are bottle fed 4 times per day plus creep and hay. They are now housed inside with a deep bed of straw. I have loads of outside space for them (5 acres) unfortunately the grass has loads of celandine/buttercups.

So the question is:- when can I put the lambs outside? I do have some fenced off areas with a shed on for night time if they need it.

I got my lambs when they were 3 and 4 weeks old and we let them out side straight away but they are locked up at night.

Ours went out about 4 weeks, we let them have the pig ark (still waiting for pigs!  ::)) which they used when it was colder, raining and at night. :sheep:

They will eat grass now but make sure they are securely locked in at night if there are foxes or badgers in the area.

We have had ours from a week old and are outside all day and come into the stables at night.
