Selling eggs with over 50 hens

When you have over 50 hens you have to let Defra know. But can i still sell at the farm gate/door to door without an egg number?  Or soon as you go over 50 you have to have a packing number?

this might help

Looks like you don't need anything to sell at gate.
Unless someone else knows better

No registration required if you're selling ungraded eggs direct to the consumer, even if you have over 50 birds:

think its 350 hens.  Its an identifying number.  I have one only because it helps baffle the uneducated and brings them on board.  You dont even have to stamp the eggs only if they are going 3rd party of which I havent sold to.  My literature quotes the number just helps.
