planning permission for sheds etc.
« on: April 28, 2016, 12:25:30 pm »
Dose anyone know if planning permission is required for tool/potting sheds, chicken coops, feild shelters etc, on a small 1 acre plot of farmland in east anglia?
There are no dwellings on the small plot or services however i would like to make it my own little smallholding.
Any advice most welcome.
Thanks

I can't help I'm afraid, but I do know the rules change if the field shelter is for horses rather than agricultural animals.

Ok thanks anyway, would be for poultry and possible a goat.

just stick it up and se what happens! I've always thought that things like sheds and modest garages were some sort of PD anyway.... anything below 8 or 9ft in height isn't it?

I doubt you'd get any problems from a small field shelter - unless the neighbours kick off.... so just make sure they don't.... lots of free produce for them!

My house is on an acre plot, at the other side of a railway line from the rest of the village except for one other.  There was a double garage and shed already on the property when I bought it and it never occurred to me to ask for planning consent to put up a second shed and enclosed run for my ducks

I know its not what you want to do but the forum there is filled with issues on planning permisions etc
If you cant beat 'em then at least bugger 'em about a bit.

There are no dwelling on the land, just rough farm land.
Dose anyone know if this would effect my rights to build animal housing etc or would permitted development rights still apply? The land is listed as farm land and not amenity land.
Cheers everyone- birdman

No permitted development rights as too small an area, it must be 5ha or about 12½ acres.

I think, depending on where you live, there are other (smaller) elements of PD which are not related to the agricultural PD (the 12.5 acres stuff).
