Hi all I'm new to this forum.

I'm posting on behalf of a neighbour who keeps goats.

He has a 2 month old kid with wobbly back legs.It seems to have gotten worse in the last few days.

I've attached a video to show what I'm talking about.
Any advice/help would be very grateful.

hi and welcome to the forum. I think it might be adviseable to speak to your vet about it. How is his diet? Any changes whatsoever? Also has he jumped or fallen off anything high at all? sorry that I cant be of more help. I hope that you get this sorted and do keep us updated on how everything progresses?

Well it could be several things - a possible spinal abscess (especially if only the hindlegs are sore) - did the kid get its' navel dipped in proper disinfectant straight after kidding?, or "white muscle disease" (selenium and/or vit E deficiency), also possibly (delayed) swayback (Copper deficiency - in the dam).

TBH -IMO one for the vet... blood samples may need to be taken...

Jullienne,thank you for your reply,no change in diet.He did take a hit from another nanny and he landed on his back.
Anke, navel was dealt with properly. Don't think copper deficiency from mum as she was given a vitamin drench.

Will look into white muscle.
Vet thought it maybe encephalomyelitis but I don't know enough about it.
Plus I don't have a lot of faith in the vet.

Encephalitis/spinal abscess sounds most likely.
Did the vet give you a strong antibiotic and steroid?
I have treated a few successfully with a florfenicol antibiotic with dexamethasone to help with inflammation.
It is also usually worth giving a vitamin B1 injection in case of CCN although it doesn't look quite like this, the thiamine can help brain and nerve function.

Thank you for your reply!
Will try vit B1 as that's not something we considered.
Kid already on antibiotics & antiflammatory drugs so fingers crossed!
