Katie Thear has died aged 70, after a long fight against cancer
Founder of "Practical Self Sufficiency", then renamed "Home Farm" then "Country Smallholding" magazines,
Author of some 22 books on self-sufficency, animal husbandry, poultry and produce

rest in peace

Thats sad I wonder how many of us have at least 1 copy of 1 of her books I know that I have, it was one of the first ones that I bought and I found it very helpful

It is sad - she was a bit of a pioneer in this stuff. Still, at least her memory will go on in her writing.

Thats sad to hear.  I have read many of her books.  Have still got a goat book she wrote from many years ago.

katie was a legend who started many smallholders off, still have a lot of the original practical self sufficiency magazines from when it started with superb info in on just about everything.
