WANTED fruit trees, and mixed deciduous trees
« on: September 19, 2015, 10:44:52 am »
Hi there,

I've got ten or so apple trees in a small orchard that I planted a few years back and I'm looking to plant twenty more at least. I'm based on the Monmouthshire Herefordshire border and would love to plant some local varieties.

I also intend to convert some of my six acre field to mixed woodland and plant a hedge mixed with larger trees along a two hundred meters or so stock fence.  If anyone knows where I can buy saplings at a reasonable price or acquire them if they're not wanted, I would be extremely grateful.

Many thanks,
Gavin.

For the local fruit trees have you though about buying some rootstocks and grafting local varieties onto them. It is far cheaper than buying them in.
Our holding has Anglo Nubian and British Toggenburg goats, Gotland sheep, Franconian Geese, Blue Swedish ducks, a whole load of mongrel hens and two semi-feral children.
