Author Topic: Can anyone recommend an unperfumed washing powder/liquid? (Read 3915 times)

We have always washed the bee suits in whatever I have here but apparently they should be washed in something unperfumed so the bees aren't so attracted.
I have looked at Tesco on line, where most of my shopping comes from, but can't find anything there but it would help if I had a specific name

I just use a couple of scoops of soda crystals and get it from Tesco (I use it for a lot of things, cleaning too as I don't get on with a lot of 'chemicals'). Looks like this (if pic attaches)...

I was going to say Persil Original Non-Bio, but soda crystals sound far better. That's what everyone used for clothes and dishes before someone convinced us we all wanted to do our cleaning in strong chemicals.

This is an interesting thread as we have problems getting unperfumed washing powder as well (must be a Carmarthenshire thing). There are some suggestions that Soda crystals can damage aluminium; anybody know if this is a problem in washing machines?

If you put a sheet of aluminium foil in hot water with soda crystals it clean silver and jewellery beautifully but the foil disintegrates.

its not totally perfume-free but ecover detergent only has natural fragrances. I find that you have to use a bit more than usual for nice white whites but otherwise I like it.

We now use Ecover Zero for all our washing, costs a bomb.... but no choice as elder daughter is allergic to everything else, incl normal Ecover...

I'm just starting to wash nappies and using a product called miocare. Hardly any smell and it's pretty low impact on the environment too. Might be of use.

You don't have to wash bee suits in the washing machine, you can wash them by hand!
