« on: February 20, 2015, 02:05:06 pm »
As you probably have guessed I'm new to this, been informed that if wish to keep livestock (sheep and pigs) I need a cph number which I now have :), I wish to keep a few pigs and sheep nothing large scale.

I have also received lots more paperwork asking about my agricultural business, forms to be registered these being;

Glastir

Natural reserve

Single application form SAF 2015

These are the main forms, but have little information as why, what they are for?

Been on the goverment web site it gives little info, any advice please would be much apprehicated.

Glastir is the Welsh environment scheme, you can apply for a contract depending on what you are willing to do.  For instance we have a contract to make a wildlife corridor and keep rare breed sheep and cattle.   There are explanatory books showing all options and specifications.  Any payment is dependent on the size of your holding, you keeping to the contract and filling in the SAF.  I would have thought that you are too late for Glastir 2015 but you can check with your local Welsh Government Office.

The national reserve is the reserve of basic farm payment entitlements ( which have replaced single farm payment entitlements).  If you had SFP entitlements then you are automatically allocated BFP entitlements, if not then you have to apply for them from the national reserve and fulfil certain criteria - sorry I don't know what the criteria are as I already had single farm payment entitlements but again your local office is the place to go for information.

The SAF is to claim any current scheme payments like BPS and/ or Glastir.  You would need to supply a map of all your land, not just land that is entered in a scheme.

Sorry a bit long winded and about as clear as mud!  You don't say where you are but I found the Welsh Government Offices in Carmarthen (Picton Terrace) very helpful when I started out although it's best to go early before they get busy or to phone ahead and ask for an appointment.

Good Luck!

(forgot to say that you don't have to do any of this if you don't want to, apart from the CPH which you've already sorted)

You are not entitled to BPS unless you have over 5 ha of farmed land not including building tracks woodland etc .... so that may make the decision for you?
Linda

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

Let go of who you are and become who you are meant to be.

Thanks for the responses, unsure which if any forms I need to fill in!!

When I applied for CPH number, they asked how much land and also land registary drawings, which showed I have less than 5 ha of land

You have to have a CPH number and herd/flock numbers for your livestock but just ignore the rest.
