Early suprise lamb - vaccination question
« on: February 13, 2015, 08:11:54 pm »
Hi there,

We have had one lamb pop out 4 weeks early (perhaps one of our young ram lambs matured a bit earlier than we thought and got mum before dad was put in)
He is a healthy large single ram lamb thing but we hadn't vaccinated mum 4 weeks before - we are due to do them all this weekend. Should I just vaccinate mum with the others as if she had 4 weeks to go? I am hoping lamby will be ok until he is 4 weeks old and can have his first vaccination but I guess he has no immunity for the common diseases at the moment.
All advice welcome!
Thanks
Pip

If it was me I'd probably just make sure he gets into the system when he's 4 weeks with his 2 injections (though it depends what you're vaccinating with?). He will have some immunity from the colostrum  :)

Gonna go with Heptovac - P
So I'll carry on with my normal regime and hope that little boy is OK

Thanks
