I don't know if this is the right place to ask but does anyone know about grants/farm payments. I have looked on DEFRA and RPA but just find everything so confusing. I am mainly looking for aid to help with repairs to dry stone walls. Any suggestions or can anyone just tell me the basics to qualify? Thanks

I know nothing of grants, but it did occur to me that National Heritage did something with dry stone walling a few years back. I'll do a bit of digging and see what I can find.

Yup,here's something pertaining to your area..... http://www.cheshire-biodiversity.org.uk/old-site/habitat-dsw.htm

and anothr link, but didn't follow it through..... http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/ConWebDoc.11208

They don’t join cliques — more times than not, they stand alone — but they recognize and gravitate towards one another. Only warriors understand other warriors.

a good bet if you dont want to get caught in the mire of countryside stewardship etc is to get hold of your local BTCV as they are often glad of sites to conduct training and general voluntary work.

Nothing like a whole gang of unpaid workers!!
