Crovect withdrawal period.
« on: January 13, 2015, 12:39:17 pm »

"Sheep may be slaughtered for human consumption only after 8 days from last treatment."

Is that from when it was applied or after the 6-8 week ‘protection period’ ?

To me it seems ambiguous.

I read it as 8 days from last application hence why it is so popular due to the short withdrawal. If it was 8 days post effective period in theory you wouldn't be able to send anything to slaughter whilst using it as it needs to be applied fairly quickly to prevent strike (I had a lamb go down with strike on the 8th week last year).

All withdrawal periods stated are the period from when drug was administered.

I’ve used it for the last four years and have regarded it as 8 days from the application and sent to slaughter as such.
Re reading the instruction, numerous reference are made to ‘effective treatment up to 6-8 weeks etc. I then started to doubt my own logic and confused myself by the wording  :dunce:
Thanks for clarifying.
