Putting rams back together
« on: November 09, 2014, 07:28:50 am »
I have 2 rams and a teaser who are currently with 3 different groups of ewes ... with tupping pretty much done I want to put all the ewes together and put the 3 rams back together elsewhere ... however with testosterone still very high I guess they will fight?  Suggestions please.
Linda

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

Let go of who you are and become who you are meant to be.

Pen them in very tightly for 24hrs so they can rub and dig against each other but not full.on head cracks and they will.then accept each other

We tend to find ours are too tired to fight when we put them back together, we maintain a tup group year round, so just now the tup lambs are in a field with the tups we will put out to chase up anything that's not been tupped after 17 days, then when we swap the tups over, the ones that have been working will go back in with the tup lambs.  They are usually glad of the rest!

It can sometimes depend n how well you know they're behaviours, ours tend to just get on with things, and are very good together, theyve always been together, however if we had new rams this year they would ve started off prior tupping in close confinement and ended in close confinement.
