There is no requirement for mud guards on agricultural trailers....no opportunity for plod unless you tow the agricultural trailer or implement with a road vehicle, as opposed to an agricultural vehicle.

Regarding different types of hitches....you have to match types.  Agricultural implements were designed to fit on tractor hitches, not on car hitches, they are completely incompatible.

If you read the small print of your car or landrover insurance you will almost certainly find your insurance only covers trailers towed with a 50mm ball hitch,  jaw type hitches not being covered normally.

To summarise the situation, trailers for cars or land rovers are built to certain standards to meet relevant legislation and regulations.  Any trailer towed by a car or landrover must meet these standards.

Agricultural trailers and implements are built to meet a different set of legislative requirement and regulations.

Anything you hook on the back of your car or landrover must meet the first set of regs,  if you hook an agricultural trailer or implement on your car or landrover it is highly unlikely to meet these first set of regs, as it was built to meet the second set of regs.

Shock, horror! Are you telling me that a Bradley Auto Jaw hitch is incompatible with British Standard Eye Shafts?

Not so. At least not on my policy!

Agricultural trailers and implements are built to meet a different set of legislative requirement and regulations.
That's open to even wider interpretation!

But the only people who will provide a definitive answer(?), would be the boffins at the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency formerly known as VOSA

I'm not saying anything of the sort stufe35!

DVSA make the rules and if in doubt, they are the body to ask regarding what is permitted and what is not.
