boars in Scottish Borders/Northumberland?
« on: October 24, 2013, 09:08:23 pm »
Our plans for our first pigs may be moving forward (fingers crossed), but I am wondering if there are any boars in our area that would take a sow to hopefully get us some piglets?

Thank you,

Louise

Probably depends on your chosen breed - TivaDiva on here (I think) usually has an OSB boar. She's near Gala.

She will hopefully be a LB sow, but don't mind cross piglets at all, I have never seen an OSB in the flesh, although they are very attractive - would one be big enough to service a LB sow?

Oh yes he's big enough  ;)
Tiva Diva (Cath) can be contacted via her website www.thornieleecottage.co.uk Biff the boar is a sweetheart who produces good litters

There's also Rusty Taylor at Garlieston in Dumfries & Galloway who has Large Blacks, he was running two different bloodlines of boar so he might be able to help - here's his website www.garliestonlodge.co.uk

I think there's also a chap called Mark in Cumbria somewhere with Large Blacks - if you want me to get his details too just let me know.
