Can anybody tell me if the contents of the chicken shed ie.. sawdust,straw & poo can be used on allotment plot?

I think it's pretty hot stuff so I would put it in a composter for a while first. I think it could burn plants, but I'm sure there are experts on here who can tell you more.

I agree with Annie. I keep my bird poo for about a year (same applies to horse manure, as far as I know) before I use it on the plot.

i dont know wheather this sould help a help a friend on his farm they use chicken poo 2 tones per acer of ground str8 from the sheds ( all the poultry are free range as well for veg plots i would say put in on the gound winter time and rotovate in however dont plant any veg in it for at leat 6 weeks that the time i have to leave my stock of the fields when the grass is given a dose to make it grow better its fantastic for grass i know that rats love the stuff so if you compost it down try and keep it fairly dry as the nitrogen will seep out other wise u would also need to keep it away from water courses like ditches or wells e.t.c

It's very high in nitrogen, so could eaily kill veg etc. - best is the advice to "compost" it for a year or so. I put mine into a big black bin (and try to get out of turning it every once in a while!) and then use it after about 18 months by mixing it with some top soil.
