My ram lamb with the fly strike now appears fully recovered  . However the fleece that was affected, from the top of his tail to half-way along his back, is now falling out. The skin underneath is in good condition but completely bare and very soft. Just like a baby's bottom really .


Does anyone know if the fleece will grow back and how I protect the rather delicate looking skin in the short term?

Yes it will grow back in time.

It's not really a problem unless it's very sunny or very cold and wet where you are.  For the latter, provide shelter.  For the former, I guess read the thread on using sunblock on sheep!
