Last year I charged £70 for half and that included leg shoulder chops breast and some lamb burgers? Is this to much?? I only sent 2 last year and only sold one. And kept the other but I have a few more this year

for lamb I would be looking at 2.20 a lb on the bone I do have a max limit of £65 though mainly because people won't really spend more around here. for Hogget I ask 1.80 a lb

I can send 200 lambs on a truck to the abattoir and get £4.20/kg at the moment ---that's £88.20 for a 21kg lamb
transport paid for---no hassle

So if I take a few in to kill I want money for transport (£1/mile each way) , money for time to sort/catch etc---+the cost of butcher & packaging + delivery in some cases

All in all £70 for 1/2 a lamb is cheap---at the moment I charge £75 & £150---same for mutton , with mutton you get a lot more meat

I charge £80/half and £150/whole - I think its cheap at the price and have had no quibbles on price.

Are these based on the 'golden' 18kg butchers carcase or a bit bigger / smaller?

£70/half, have no problems selling it to friends and family. We cover our costs and make a little bit on the side to tide us through winter (obviously time is not included!). The first batch of this years lambs were 9.8kg-10.9kg per side.
