Hey everyone,

I have just taken a trip to the bakery in my local tesco and picked up a cake of live yeast. I would like to try and grow this to use in bread making. I love the taste of fresh yeast in bread and have been using a sourdough starter for sometime. Some of my friends are not so fond of the strong flavour of the sourdough though so I would like to try and produce a culture from this cake that doesn't ferment as much as sourdough.

I have heard that potato water is very good for starting yeast as it feeds on the starch. However I have yet to try it. If anyone has any advice on growing yeast for bread baking I would love to hear from you.

I will post some pictures of breads I make with my experimental yeast when I get a culture going.

Thank you for any advice in advance.
